The Menicon Z-α represents a chemical and optical breakthrough in Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) technology. It is the world’s first lens material to be classified as "Hyper-Oxygen Transmissible," combining an industry-leading Dk of 163 with a sophisticated design that mimics the natural eye.
The Z Material: Unmatched Health & Durability
Traditionally, RGP lenses became more fragile as their oxygen permeability increased. The Menicon Z material shatters this limitation through a novel polymer component (Siloxanylstyrene).
Hyper-Oxygen (Dk 163): With a Dk of 163 (ISO), Menicon Z provides the highest level of oxygen to your cornea, ensuring your eyes remain white, healthy, and vibrant even during long hours of wear.
Thinner & Stronger: Due to its superior material strength, Menicon Z can be manufactured significantly thinner than typical RGP lenses. This reduced thickness translates directly into enhanced comfort and a lighter feel on the eye.
Deposit & Scratch Resistance: The Z material is engineered for toughness. It resists protein deposits and surface scratches far better than other high-Dk materials, maintaining crystal-clear vision for longer.
UV Protection: Includes a built-in UV absorber to shield your eyes from harmful ultraviolet radiation.

The α design refers to the sophisticated geometry of the lens, ensuring that the high-tech Z material sits perfectly on your eye.
Sphero-Aspherical Fit: Because the human cornea is not a perfect sphere, the α design features a spherical center and an aspheric periphery. This allows the lens to contour naturally to your eye’s unique shape.
Superior Centering: Engineered for maximum stability, the α design ensures the lens stays centered on the pupil. This reduces irritation and prevents "3 and 9 o'clock" corneal staining.
Wide Optical Zone: A generous 8.0 mm optical zone provides stable, high-definition vision, effectively managing pupil changes in low-light conditions to reduce glare and halos.
