Did you know?
Washing your contact lens case with water and soap isn't the best way to keep it clean. The fundamental rule is that contact lenses should never come into contact with water. Unfiltered tap water can introduce a type of bacteria known as “acanthamoeba,” which can infect the cornea and potentially threaten your vision.
Before handling your contact lenses or their case, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly. Avoid using fragranced soaps, and dry your hands with a lint-free towel before proceeding.
Storage of your contact lens case plays a part too.
For example, keep your contact lenses on a tabletop or dresser that is not exposed to direct sunlight, as leaving them near a window can cause them to degrade. Additionally, storing and handling your lenses in a humid environment like the bathroom can be problematic. The bathroom's moisture can harbor germs that may lead to eye infections.
Replacement
If your contact lens case is damaged, replace it immediately to prevent potential eye issues. If the case is still in good condition, it should be replaced every three months.
